Prohibited Products and Services

In addition to the expressly prohibited products listed below, there are categories considered restricted, which will be evaluated during the onboarding process by the EBANX Compliance team. Authorization for their processing may be denied or revoked at any time, especially when they represent risks to the business, to the company's reputation, or when they involve products, services, or activities considered illegal in the jurisdiction of the Merchant or the User, or that violate financial regulations and international sanctions.

  • Adoption agency;

  • Alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, or related products;

  • Fresh foods or those that pose a risk to public health;

  • Live or dead animals, including rare animals, edible offal, and edible or non-edible fats, live or dead poultry (including frozen), and plants of any kind;

  • Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives – Includes firearms (automatic, military, without serial numbers), ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and implements for reloading cartridges. It also covers sporting weapons, hunting equipment, replicas, imitations, disguised weapons, weapons that fire harmful substances, bows and arrows, tasers, and other controlled equipment;

  • Luxury goods, precious metals, and high-value items – includes jewelry, precious metals, works of art, antiques, collectibles, and other high-value-added products;

  • Camouflaged articles and uniforms and any other items for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces (Army, Police, Navy, Air Force, and Special Groups);

  • Restricted or sensitive financial activities – includes debt collection, lending (such as mortgages and consortiums), foreign exchange operations, or asset trading (such as ForEx, binary options, stock exchange, and future investments, Eurobonds, stocks), as well as unregulated investment programs;

  • Activities or products that involve minors in an illegal or abusive manner – includes child pornography, pedophilia, nudity of minors, occultism with child participation, and any other content or activity that illegally exploits or involves minors and is potentially harmful to the brand or reputation; as well as activities related to sexual exploitation or the offering of sexual services, including prostitution agencies, adult content, pornography, and products or services of a sexual, erotic nature, or for the intermediation of encounters or escort services with a sexual connotation;

  • Digital wallets (e-wallets), prepaid credit cards, and other payment solutions that can be used anonymously or without adequate supervision, as well as services and products associated with these means that encourage or facilitate their use;

  • Pawnshops and auctions – includes services related to pawning goods, buying and selling through physical or virtual auctions, including judicial, extrajudicial, or private auctions;

  • Electronic cigarettes, vapes, and similar products;

  • Investment merchants, companies, or "get-rich-quick" programs;

  • Interception, espionage, or control evasion devices and technologies – includes wiretapping equipment, spy software, devices and services aimed at unlocking or evading technical restrictions, such as black box (IPTV), cell phone unlockers, electronic card programming, modchips for consoles, and TV channel unlocking;

  • Used medical and electronic equipment;

  • Pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes, or any business model that predominantly depends on the recruitment of new participants or that promises guaranteed financial returns without proven real economic activity;

  • Illegal gambling, betting, and related products;

  • Biological material and organs of human origin. Wigs or hair prostheses made with synthetic fibers or animal hair are not included in this prohibition;

  • Medicines, health products, and related services – includes all medicines (with or without a prescription), pharmaceutical products, hospital equipment, products and services for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of diseases (including fraudulent vaccines and products related to COVID-19), miracle products or those with false cure promises, counterfeit drugs, pharmaceutical waste, online or mail-order pharmacies, and any product prohibited by health authorities such as Anvisa, Cofepris, ISPCH, or equivalents;

  • Political parties (e.g., campaign financing, donations, and subscriptions for politicians, political causes);

  • Unfair business practices in subscriptions and marketing – includes unilateral changes to terms or prices without notice or transparency, automatic renewals, charges after free trials or misleading initial offers, without clear consumer consent;

  • Counterfeit and pirated products – includes goods with illegally applied registered trademarks, unauthorized reproductions of copyrighted works, counterfeit currencies, and any other product or service that infringes on intellectual property rights, as well as platforms that facilitate this practice;

  • Products prohibited or not authorized by health authorities – includes any substance, product, or device vetoed, suspended, or not approved by local health and sanitary surveillance regulatory bodies, such as ANVISA (Brazil), COFEPRIS (Mexico), ISPCH (Chile), or international equivalents;

  • Chemical, industrial, and hazardous products – includes pesticides, fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and disinfectants; fossil fuels and petroleum derivatives (oils, gases, paraffin, pitch); lubricants, greases, and fire extinguishing agents; minerals and construction materials (salt, sulfur, gypsum, lime, cement, and asbestos); nuclear and toxic industrial waste; substances controlled by the 1988 Convention (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, potassium permanganate, toluene, diethyl ether, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, and 1-phenyl-2-propanone); as well as any other materials classified as hazardous by national or international standards;

  • Quasi-cash and stored value – includes any physical or digital instrument with a prepaid or loaded balance that can be used as a means of payment or credit, such as gift cards, vouchers, and functionally equivalent devices to cash;

  • Withdrawal or exchange of virtual game currency or game credentials, usually from advanced accounts;

  • Insurance services;

  • Invasive medical or cosmetic treatments, devices, equipment, and practices – encompass procedures such as botox, peeling, hyaluronic acid, and similar ones;

  • Hunting trophies (animals), animal parts such as ivory and shark fin;

  • Poisons: liquid, solid, or gas.
